Amelia McKinney-Odasso

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Amelia strives to create a counseling environment where clients feel supported, understood, and empowered to show up as their authentic selves. She believes counseling is a collaborative space where individuals can explore their experiences, build insight, and develop tools that support growth, resilience, and meaningful change.

Amelia earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and Sociology from James Madison University in 2019 and her Master’s of Social Work from George Mason University in 2022. During graduate school, she gained experience in residential services with an affordable housing developer, supporting children’s programming and helping connect families to resources. She also discovered a passion for working with members of the LGBTQ+ community and supported neurodivergent children through an applied behavior analysis company. Amelia has spent the past five years working in outpatient practice, where she continues to support children, adolescents, and families as they navigate challenges and work toward meaningful growth.

As for her therapeutic approach and orientation, Amelia takes a holistic approach tailored to each individual client. She primarily draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and play therapy interventions. Amelia works with children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, and neurodivergence, including Autism and ADHD. She values meeting clients where they are and adapting treatment to support each client’s unique strengths, needs, and goals.

Outside of the therapy office, Amelia enjoys spending time with her pets, going on walks, watching and playing sports, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
