Resident in Counseling

Manassas, & Virtual

She/Her

Amity is excited to join the Apple Tree team and meet clients in the Manassas area. She enjoys seeing individuals from ages 8 to 108. She also sees clients and families, and thrives on meeting the variety of wonderful people in Virginia. She practices therapy using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a modality that invites present-moment self-awareness, radical acceptance, differentiation of self from the content of experience, exploration of values, and behavioral change. She loves helping clients who experience spiritual and religious struggles or deconstruction, and relationships that are stuck in political divides, in addition to topics of anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and more.

Amity is originally from small-town Arizona and received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She received her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwest Nazarene University near Boise, ID, where she was most recently living before joining Apple Tree Counseling here in beautiful northern Virginia.

Amity and her husband have two grown children and a hound dog. She teaches mindfulness meditation, and loves writing, gardening, jogging, wandering the forest, exploring new places and foods, and she brings a creative, authentic approach to everything she does.
