Omayra “Omy” Emami, M.A.

Resident in Counseling

Lorton, Manassas, & Virtual

Omy’s goal is to honor the dignity of each and every person she works and comes into contact with. By embracing each person’s unique constitution, qualities and God-given abilities, she immerses herself in the client’s journey toward growth and healing. Growth and healing occur when specific individual needs are met. This is why Omy employs an Integrative/Holistic approach, blending a variety of modalities, from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to Humanistic, Person-Centered approach, tailoring treatment to each person’s specific needs. In addition to her residential work under the supervision of Michelle Kauble, she is currently enrolled in Renewing Hearts Play Therapy Training, with the goal of becoming a Registered Play Therapist. Omy obtained her Bachelor of Science in Social Psychology degree through Park University while serving in the United States Air Force. After her military service, she then attained her Master of Arts in Counseling and served a diverse population of clients in multiple states, including Texas and Maryland. Her professional career was put on hold when her active-duty husband was medically discharged as a combat Veteran, redirecting Omy to becoming his caregiver. Her personal experience has given her a passion for working with military and Veteran families, as she understands, firsthand, that while the military member or Veteran has specific challenges, the family member’s involvement, needs and care directly impact the military member and/or Veteran’s recovery.

While working with her clients is Omy’s passion, her greatest blessing and indulgement is the sound of laughter of her favorite people, her husband and teenage daughters, when spending quality time together. She is also highly involved in the Veteran community and is currently helping her daughters’ outreach to bring community and awareness to children of wounded, ill and injured Veterans through their blog, We Signed Up Too.
